It is important that you are aware that Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women Medicaid is only temporary (30 to 45 days) and covers only outpatient care. It does not cover your delivery or any in-hospital care. It gives you temporary coverage for your medical care while the Department of Children and Families (DCF) decides whether or not you are eligible for full Medicaid benefits. You must supply all of the information that the Medicaid eligibility specialist requests in a timely manner to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) so that you do not have interruption in services. Pregnancy Counselor - Alexis Morris:
QUESTIONS TO ASK BEFORE CHOOSING AN ADOPTION AGENCY OR ATTORNEY
- Will I have my own adoption counselor that is committed to me and my desires or will the same person also represent the adoptive family?
- Will my advocate come to the hospital?
- Will I receive guidance to help me think through the long-term implications of both parenting and adoption for me and my child?
- Has your agency personally assessed the adoptive families? Have the adoptive parents received training to understand and have compassion for me and my emotions, or do they just care about the baby?
- Do I get to choose the family for my child?
- Do I get to choose the amount of openness I want?
- Will anyone help hold the adoptive family accountable for the level of openness we agree on?
- If I desire visits with the family, who will be there for me for those first visits?
- What happens if I change my mind at some point during the process? Will there be any financial implications or money that I have to pay back to the agency or attorney?
- If I need and/or desire grief support before or after the adoption, is it available to me free of charge?
