Medical or non-surgical abortion uses RU486 and other types of chemicals to terminate an early pregnancy. 

According to new FDA regulations this method of abortion is approved for use in women who are within 30-70 days of their last menstrual period.

Medical abortion may require a surgical procedure if the medical abortion fails or is incomplete.
